That’s a Pretty Badass Quote, Prominently Displayed When You Walk Into KAMAN HQ
Wanna Work for One of Our Coolest Clients?
Mike Miskell is Winston Wolf. That’s basically his job description. When the executives at KAMAN identify a problem, they send The Wolf to fix it. And The Wolf, is Mike Miskell.
Last year, The Wolf found Power Pivot. Nine minutes and thirty-seven seconds later, KAMAN had revolutionized their entire culture around profitability. (You get the 9:37 reference, Pulp Fiction fans?)
(For the record, I don’t think Mike has even SEEN Pulp Fiction. He’s just The Wolf naturally. And he promised me he’d watch the movie if I posted this.)
We even got on stage together, The Wolf and I, at PASS BA 2014 in San Jose to talk about the success of this project.
We then co-presented on a VERY different stage, last month, at the Secret Microsoft/P3 Adaptive Summit.
The Wolf, at the Secret Summit, Saying Please. Pretty Please. With Sugar on Top.

The Wolf Needs You
Buoyed by the success of the first project, KAMAN is now doubling down on Power Pivot and hiring a team… ooh, let’s call it the Winston Wolf Pack.
The job is technically in Rochester NY, but for the right candidate, different locations will be considered.

Aside… Isn’t This Bad for Business?
I can hear the seasoned consultants out there “tsk tsk-ing” at us. Why help one of our clients hire more skilled people – won’t that cut into the amount of paid work we can do for KAMAN?
My answer: umm, maybe? Thing is, Empowerment is the new style. It’s not our desire to become wrapped around our clients’ spinal cords like some sort of alien parasite. We don’t want our clients to become dependent on us. We want to assist them on their path to self-sufficiency.
So things like this are a major WIN in our eyes. A feel-good moment AND a “no BS” validation that the sorts of things we do ACTUALLY WORK.
And even in a successful empowerment story, we’re still “on call” if you need us to train up new departments, unblock you when you get stuck, etc., so it’s not like we turn into a pumpkin. But we’re stoked to do things like this. Positively stoked. And we don’t care whether “old-school” consulting firms disapprove. Welcome to the New Style.
